The Virendra Swarup Educational Foundation, established in 1989 by the late Dr. Nagendra Swarup in honour of his father, Dr. Virendra Swarup, represents a distinguished legacy of educational vision and service. Guided by the ideals of its founders, the Foundation has consistently advanced the cause of accessible, high-quality education across underserved regions of Kanpur and its surrounding districts.
Its journey began in 1990 with the establishment of its first institution in Kidwai Nagar, addressing a critical gap in access to quality schooling. What followed was a thoughtful expansion into remote and developing areas of Kanpur, Unnao, and Farrukhabad, where the Foundation established a network of institutions dedicated to delivering meaningful educational opportunities where they were needed most.
Expanding into higher education, the Foundation established the Virendra Swarup Institute of Computer Studies in 1998—Kanpur’s first self-financed institute offering an MCA program—followed by the Virendra Swarup Institute of Professional Studies in 2005. Together, these institutions have built a strong reputation for academic rigor and industry-aligned programs in management and information technology.
Committed to shaping capable, future-ready professionals, the Foundation continues to uphold its vision of educational excellence. In tribute to its founder, it has established the Dr. Nagendra Swarup Centre of Professional Excellence (NSCOPE)—a state-of-the-art institution designed to deliver industry-oriented education and prepare students to excel in a dynamic, global economy
